Guide
Everything you need to know about your Taptap card: how NFC works, getting set up, fixing common issues, and where to go if you're still stuck.
How NFC Works
What is NFC?
NFC (Near Field Communication) is short-range wireless tech built into almost every modern smartphone. It's the same technology behind contactless payments: a tiny chip, no battery needed, that a phone can read just by getting close to it. Your Taptap card has one embedded inside.
How it works
When you hold your phone near the card, the phone powers the chip just long enough to read one thing off it: a link. Your phone opens that link in the browser, which takes the visitor straight to your live profile, with no app, no pairing, no bluetooth. It's the same idea as a QR code, just without needing to open a camera first.
1. Tap
Hold your phone near the card, usually 1-4 cm away.
2. Chip responds
The card's chip sends back your profile's link.
3. Profile opens
Your phone's browser opens it, and that's it.
No NFC on the phone you're using? Every card also has a QR code printed on the back that opens the exact same profile.
Getting Started
- 1
Create your account
Sign up with email or Google. This gives you a dashboard and a portfolio page at taptap.lol/u/your-slug, ready before your card ever ships.
- 2
Design your card
Start from a template or design front and back from scratch in the editor, with your own logo, colors, and layout.
- 3
Build your portfolio
Fill in your bio, contact details, and any sections you want (Services, Experience, Projects, Skills, Social Links, and more). This is the page your card actually opens.
- 4
Preview, then publish
Changes save as a draft first. Open Preview and hit Publish to make them live: visitors only ever see your published version, never a half-finished edit.
- 5
Place your order
रु.750 flat, cash on delivery, no subscription. We ship in 3-5 business days.
- 6
Tap to activate
The first tap after your card arrives both activates it and takes that visitor straight to your profile, with no extra setup step on your end.
Troubleshooting
Card
Tapping my card does nothing on my phone
Make sure NFC is turned on in your phone's settings: it's on by default on iPhone (XS and newer), but Android usually needs it enabled manually. A thick case, a metal wallet, or another card stacked against it can also block the read. If your phone still doesn't have NFC, use the QR code printed on the back of your card instead. It opens the same profile.
My card taps but opens the wrong profile
Your slug (the taptap.lol/u/... part of your URL) is yours to choose while you're setting up your profile, but it locks permanently the moment your card ships (you can also lock it earlier yourself from the editor). A shipped card should always open the same profile. If it doesn't, contact support with your card's order number.
My card arrived damaged or stopped working
Contact support. Replacement cards are available for a nominal printing and shipping fee.
Order
My order still shows "Ordered", not "Shipped"
Orders are cash on delivery, so payment is confirmed and marked shipped by our team as it moves through fulfillment. This normally happens within 3-5 business days; if it's been longer, contact support with your order ID.
I need to change my shipping address after ordering
Contact support as soon as possible with your order ID. We can update it before the card ships, but not after.
Profile
I edited my profile but visitors still see the old version
Edits save as a draft automatically, but they only go live once you hit Publish from the Preview screen in the editor. That's deliberate, so you can make several changes and review them before anyone sees a half-finished page.
The URL slug I want is already taken
Slugs are first-come, first-served across all users. Try a variation (a middle name, a number, or your company name); the editor checks availability as you type.
I want to change my slug, but it won't let me
Once your slug is locked (automatically when your first order is placed, or earlier if you lock it yourself from the editor), it's permanent so it can be printed onto a physical card with confidence. Before that point, it's editable any time.
I can't tell if anyone is actually viewing my profile
Your dashboard's Portfolio Analytics card shows total visits, split by card taps vs. QR scans, with hourly/daily/weekly/monthly views.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do visitors need to install an app to view my profile?
No. Tapping the card (or scanning the QR code) opens your profile directly in their phone's browser, with nothing to install, for you or for them.
Can I still edit my profile after the card ships?
Yes, anytime, for free. The physical card design is locked in once it's printed, but your digital profile (bio, sections, contact info, everything) stays fully editable, and changes go live the moment you publish.
How do people share my profile besides tapping the card?
Your dashboard has a Share button next to your live URL that generates a QR code you can download or share directly. It's handy for anywhere a physical tap isn't practical, like a social media bio.
Does the card work with every phone?
It works with almost all modern smartphones (iPhone XS and newer, most Android phones from 2017 on). For anything older, the QR code printed on the back of the card opens the exact same profile.
